Description

Just WOW.  Enormous Karakuri with an ingenious 3D N-ary puzzle mechanic that moves across the puzzle's various faces and facets.  What is going on inside that makes this work?

Karakuri product description:

This work was designed for Karakuri Puzzle Party in Hakone 2019.

It’s developed version of “Aquarius Drawer”. Each device moves in 5 steps. 5 devices move in intertwining. First drawer opens at 5 step. Second drawer opens at 241 step. Each maze was designed by shortening the maze of Quinary box, or adding corners at both end of the maze of Trinary box. The formula is “3 to the 5th power minus 2”. 5 means the number of devices. In case of 6 devices, it’s 727 step. In case of 7 devices, it’s 2185 step. I have not experimented yet. Not bad. By the way, the formula of initial “Aquarius Drawer” is “2 times 2 to the 5th power minus 3”

Spring Camera (2018) - Hideaki Kawashima (Karakuri)
Spring Camera is considered by many to be Kawashima's masterpiece, and one of the top Karakuris of all time.  It is meticulously modeled after an antique camera, and as with the best Karakuris, the solution mirrors the object's function.  But only so far.  You must remember that you haven't finished solving a Kawashima puzzle until you see his signature "hanko" stamp.  This puzzle is magnificent in its craftsmanship in addition to providing a fantastic puzzle experience - which is why it is ...

Ages (2019) - Brian Young
Brian Young (Mr. Puzzle Australia) is renowned for crafting intricate, demanding, and highly creative sequential discovery puzzles. Ages is one of his masterpieces: a sequential discovery puzzle that is also a burr puzzle.  The solve offers a long and rewarding progression, with many steps along the way - some quite difficult, but all within reach.  You'll know you're finally done when you have found “the piece of Australiana inside the puzzle.” Once that goal is reached, the challenge is ...

Moon (2020) - Hideaki Kawashima (Karakuri)
Beautiful Karakuri with clever solution by Kawashima.  Hmm, why is one face a different color than the others...?Karakuri product description:This work was designed as a Christmas present for 2020.The theme is the phases of the moon. It's relatively easy for me to create a complicated Karakuri box by increasing the number of moves, but it's not so easy to create a convincing box with fewer moves.Compared to my Christmas presents of the past, the theme and the trick are clearer, although it may b...
