Description

Just WOW.  Enormous Karakuri with an ingenious 3D N-ary puzzle mechanic that moves across the puzzle's various faces and facets.  What is going on inside that makes this work?

Karakuri product description:

This work was designed for Karakuri Puzzle Party in Hakone 2019.

It’s developed version of “Aquarius Drawer”. Each device moves in 5 steps. 5 devices move in intertwining. First drawer opens at 5 step. Second drawer opens at 241 step. Each maze was designed by shortening the maze of Quinary box, or adding corners at both end of the maze of Trinary box. The formula is “3 to the 5th power minus 2”. 5 means the number of devices. In case of 6 devices, it’s 727 step. In case of 7 devices, it’s 2185 step. I have not experimented yet. Not bad. By the way, the formula of initial “Aquarius Drawer” is “2 times 2 to the 5th power minus 3”

Each year, the International Puzzle Party (IPP) is held somewhere around the world. One of its revered traditions is the day-long Edward Hordern Puzzle Exchange, in which participants bring copies of a previously unproduced puzzle to exchange with all the other participants.  To participate, a puzzle must first be submitted for design review and evaluated for quality and originality. If approved, the exchanger must produce enough copies for all the other exchangers. On the day of the exchange, ...
