Butterfly Lock aka Pleasure & Pain by Will Strijbos (2015)

Why I'm selling

It is with the greates pain, that I have to offer this gem of my collection for purchase... Some personal misteps and bad decissions by myself led to some finacial stress to me.

Will‘s Aluminium Puzzles are wonderful to solve, but offer less replayability for me personally, then let‘s say a Revomaze or burr puzzles in general. I‘m going to offer my copies of Butterfly and The Wanderer on PuzzleParadise (international) and First Cylinder and Lotus on eBay (Germany only).

History

I came along this gem in January 2019 via an eBay auction for a very reasonable price. The starting price will be what I paid back then.

The copy on sale here is engraved 97/99. This should indicate that it is of the first batch (I don’t know whether a second batch was made available later on, but I don’t think so).

I've solved and reseted the puzzle four or five times since then. The puzzle will come in it's initial configuration, ready to be solved. 

Goal (from Will's email):

Challenge:

Turn the small "LOCK" tube over and return all other parts to their original positions.

This is an important part of the challenge - everything should be back in their starting positions, with the exception of the "LOCK" tube, which has now been turned over. See the attached START and FINISH pictures. 

Instructions:

Please don't use any force - when you feel friction, stop!

Just turn things over, slide things back and forth carefully, change positions etc.

NOTE: No Banging, No Rotational Moves, No Force Required at all! 

...and remember there is No Hurry, please take your time, and be sure you don't forget anything at the end... or pain awaits

Allard mentioned in his review (http://allardspuzzlingtimes.blogspot.com/2015/07/strijbos-butterfly-puzzle.html?m=1) that the working title was „Pleasure & Pain“. Those who know this puzzle, know why. It seems that the prior owner suffered the pain, because the puzzle came with the pain part.

I am offering two options to the buyer:

Complete Delivery with small bonus

If you want the pain part directly before you‘ve solved the puzzle, I will put the pain part inside a Wide 14 Step Japanese Puzzle Box (Himitsu Bako), but will ask an additional (in addition to the price of the auction!) 50,-€ for it.

The same experience as in 2015: 

I will keep the pain part until the buyer can show me via pics or (unlisted) video, that the puzzle is truly solved and reseted. Then I‘ll send the pain part for free. 

Or you have to suffer the pain and pay the 100,-€ fee (in addition to the price of the auction!) and wait for the pain part to be delivered. The buyer is of course free to ask Will directly, whether he still has the pain part for this puzzle, but I doubt it. 

This option does not incl. the above mentioned Japanese puzzle box!

Shipping

The buyer has to pay for shipping and PayPal fees.

Buyers outside the EU may have to pay additional import taxes and fees! The shipping/import label will state the correct price to avoid problems in case of an insurance claim!
