Description

Checker Cube Set / Akio Kamei

Karakuri K-3-2 / 1999.03

For sale is an extremely rare and limited set of 4 Checker Cubes made by Akio Kamei in 1999.

Wood: Oak / Size: 72x72x72mm each

Commentary from Akio Kamei:

"One customer suggested that I remake my first "Checker Cube" (K-3) with a different construction. So, my pupil Hiroshi Iwahara took a leading part in advancing the development. Four kinds of "Checker Cube" were produced on a commercial basis from several new types. If we neglect the strength of bars and the originality of the construction, we can make many more products. But when we consider the commercialization, we can only make a few."
