This is a magnificent puzzle box by Kagen crafted from Figured West Coast Big Leaf Maple, Pink Ivory and Ebony.

Here’s Kagen’s description:
“I originally designed the diamond mechanism to be used for my notebook. The mechanism is very elegant and I have had it in mind for a box for five years now. The Diamond box is a continuation of the Decorated Box and Braided Box. It utilizes a well-concealed hidden movement to keep it safely locked. The surprising thing is when the correct movement is applied the diamond on the top of the box changes color.
This box is also a puzzle to solve in reverse. That is, if you give it to someone who has not seen it opened, it would just as challenging to figure out how to put the lid back on.”
