Description

So once upon a time, Cubic Dissection came out with a lovely puzzle called Slideways that people just went nuts over. It was a 3-piece burr that assembled unlike any burr puzzle before it with coordinate motion moves! It was such an excellent introductory puzzle to the genre of coordinate motion puzzles, also co-mo puzzles for faster speech and slang. It had it all! It was small, easily shared around to even non-puzzlers and simple enough to convey the sheer magic of the deceptively simple and yet oddly shaped pieces of wood.

This is not that puzzle.

This is the sequel to that puzzle. Double Slideways was born from Raymond's desire to take the above concept and reinvent it in the form of a 6 piece burr and by every metric, he succeeded! Double Slideways is a lovely puzzle that I truly enjoy taking apart and putting it back together. But unlike with Slideways, I wouldn't share it with non-puzzlers. The dexterity and brain twisting it takes to put it back together is just too much for our more innocent non-puzzling friends.

It's in this lovely canary sapwood that I just find absolutely stunning and consider it by far the most gorgeous form of this puzzle. I almost regret letting it go, but if I'm already selling other co-mo burrs such as my 4 NOS burrs and Quad Slideways, then Double Slideways should follow its friends and relatives out the door as well.
