Description

A new design by the young Western Australian designer William Hu. This puzzle has the magic number of 6 interlocking pieces. But don’t be fooled. There are 69 false assembled and just one solution. That solution is a level 6-8-2–3-3 so not trivial at all!

Edward Hordern IPP Puzzle Exchange – Kyoto, Japan.
August 2016. Presented by Jerry Slocum. Designed by William Hu. Made by Mr Puzzle.

This year for IPP we made a couple of designs by William Hu. A young man from Western Australia who is starting to make a name for himself in the puzzle design world and this puzzle is why!  This puzzle has the magic number of 6 interlocking pieces.  But don’t be fooled.  There are 69 false assembled and just one solution.  That solution is a level 6-8-2–3-3 so not trivial at all!

At first, Jerry was unsure about the merits of this puzzle so he gave it to his sons and grandsons to play with over the holidays at Christmas 2015. They voted unanimously that it was a very good puzzle.

The puzzle comes apart easily but in the blink of an eye, the pieces seem to be mixed up making reassembly a real challenge even though the shape seems to be easy to visualise. Obviously, if someone else took it apart and you started from scratch the way Brian likes to do burrs this becomes a very difficult puzzle!

This is the first time we’ve used sandblasting on the centre pieces to get give more contrast and definition to the different pieces in the puzzle while still using clear acrylic.
A complete printed step by step solution sheet is included.
Size: 70mm x 70mm x 70mm
