Description

I’m offering up my copy of this wonderful book by Peter with a cool lock by Shane Hales.

Please Note:  There is a slight bow in the front cover that does not affect the lock function.  Having said that, if/when you receive and are not completely satisfied with it I will offer a full refund, no questions asked, John.

Peter Hajek wrote about it:

“The richly illustrated hardback book covers the history of boxes with secret opening; their flourishing at the turn of the 19th and 20th Century in England, Japan and Switzerland; the work of the three pioneers of puzzle box art – Wood, Chambers and Kamei; and the greatest achievements of modern masters currently active in Japan, America, Europe and Australia. There are also sections on puzzle box secrets, puzzle locks, and the current 'puzzle scene'.”

Note:

‘This is an edition of the book by Peter Hajek, described on its own page, locked with a trick lock by Shane Hales.’

Four-Piece Serially Interlocking Cube & Modified 3-Piece version - Stewart Coffin Design #93 by John Devost
I’ve made so many of this design that I can’t even remember how many, it’s one of my favourites of Stewart’s designs.  I often would make them when making a fresh batch of wood sticks for cube designs and when I last did that I mistakenly glued up a version that ended up being only 3 pieces instead of 4.  I’m offering it up here as well as a correct 4 piece version both in Maple.Second photo shows the pieces of the 4 piece version. Both copies have been triple buffed as always and c...

This classic design was one of my earliest puzzle builds in the early 2000’s that I made for Bill Cutler. It features 18 pieces with four solutions, however finding one will definitely keep you busy for some time!I’ve always wanted to revisit it but in a smaller scale, I used a 3/16” unit size with the overall size being approximately 6” x 4”.The woods used were salvaged from an old upright piano from the 1920’s that I layed out the keys in a wall hanging (see last photo). Slipfeath...

Pentablock - Stewart Coffin Design #2 by John Devost
I’ve been wanting to make this design for years and now after decades making puzzles finally made a copy using some of my Salvaged Piano Wood. One of the first puzzles that I purchased from Interlocking Puzzles (Wayne Daniel - RIP) in early 2000 was this familiar 12 Piece Pentomino design.  I made a box to contain the 3x4x5 (3940 solutions) and the 2x5x6 (264 solutions) configuration.Everything has my ‘Triple Buff Finish’ and comes with printed solutions sheet.Shipping cost to be determin...

Tube It In 2 - William Hu by John Devost
I’m sure everyone is quite familiar with William Strijbos’ original Tube It In design so I don’t think I need to give a lengthy description but should say that William Hu came up with a novel design twist on this awesome puzzle and he has graciously allowed me to make a small run.I’ve long since left the puzzle scene after completely retiring, however I did finish up a select few of these and thought I’d offer them up for sale. This puzzle is crafted from Canarywood with Purpleheart Sli...
