Up for auction is a museum-quality, true holy grail for mechanical puzzle collectors: an original exchange puzzle from the 4th International Puzzle Party (IPP4), held in London in August 1984.
This beautiful wooden piece was designed and made by the legendary Nobuyuki "Nob" Yoshigahara and his master craftsman collaborator, "Masa." Early IPP puzzles (pre-IPP10) are exceedingly difficult to find, and surviving pieces crafted by Nob himself are the crown jewels of the puzzle community.

This is a 2D interlocking packing puzzle. The wooden pieces are precisely cut into irregular shapes. When solved correctly and slid into the side-track of the included wooden frame, and interlocking pieces.
