Description
The Grooved Board Burr series was an amazing innovation in the design of board burrs where instead of just burr plates that the solver has to figure out how to take apart, they now have to deal with blocking pins obstructing their ability to dismantle this burr. I only ever had the luck to try #6 and #7 in the series, but they were both an absolute blast to solve!

It's the hardest one in the series and stays stable for an impressively long time. But the final few moves before the first piece can finally be removed are somewhat unstable. At that point, it's possible to cheat part of the solve by rotating a piece free, but why cheat yourself out of a fun puzzle solve? It's also somewhat "spiky" with far more visible pins than any of its predecessors which made for a slightly quirky solve compared to #6 in my eyes.

I think any burr fan will love this for the high quality in its construction, the unusual nature of a grooved board burr, and getting a burr that gives a nice level of difficulty without going too far and being more difficult than fun to play with.

Archipuzzle is actually a sequel of sorts to Stuffing Burr despite both puzzles being designed by different people.Just like Stuffing Burr, Archipuzzle is an unusual burr puzzle where the goal is to assemble it instead of taking the burr apart. Furthermore, it has a catch in that it has no obvious goal shape unlike most other burrs. Instead, solvers need to figure out how to assemble the pieces in a way that every notch is filled in with another piece.Lucie was inspired by Volker's Stuffing Burr...

Knot-a-2x2 by Rex Perez
Knot-a-2x2 made for a wild flashback to my younger years playing with a Rubik's Cube. I'll be honest here, I struggled just as badly here as I did back then with the Rubik's Cube hahaha.I had fun with Rex's prior designs when he was mostly selling coin releases and burrs, so when I heard that he was designing an SD for seemingly the first time, I knew I had to get it. And hearing that it's based on the design of a Rubik's Cube, that just sealed the deal. The goal is to scramble up the cube so you...

Dark Matter Burr by Juno
Dark Matter Burr sounds ominous with it's name and looks, but it's quite gentle in my eyes.I solved it fairly quick when I first got it, but it's really fun to take apart and reassemble with how there are only 18 moves to take out the first piece. It looks like it should be a nightmare with its unusual pieces' shapes, but once the solver gets going, it's only a modest challenge to beat. I wouldn't say this is an easy puzzle or beginner-friendly, but it's not hard either. I rate this at medium di...
