Half Hour is an assembly puzzle with only one possible way to pack the pieces into a cube and it's named such because it takes the average solver half an hour to find that assembly! Quite surprising for simply assembling a 3x3x3 cube.
The Variant part of the name comes from the ingenious idea to add to the difficulty of the puzzle by forcing solvers to figure out how to get the pieces into the box with only a U-shaped opening available. Knowing the assembly of the pieces only gets the solver so far, and another deduction needs to be made as well.
