This puzzle was designed in 1970 and made by Bill Cutler in or after 2006 and comes with Bill’s original information sheet and solution hints.
The puzzle grew out of the 12 piece Hectix (or Hextix by Stewart Coffin) which Bill and Stewart both came up with independently in the 1960’s.
Over the years Bill made various versions of the Hexagonal Porcupine where the inner rods have unusual notches. This version is more streamlined and only takes a couple of moves to get out the first piece which still reduces the risk of one piece falling out unintentionally when picked up.
Goal: The object of the puzzle is to disassemble then reassemble the 48 piece non-rectilinear burr.
Size: 230 X 230 X 230mm
Materials: Walnut, cherry, maple, red oak.
Condition: I don’t think the puzzle has been played with. I took the first few pieces out of the puzzle and it moves very smoothly. I can see a very small chip out on the end of one of the pieces (in photo) but I doubt it’s damage; rather from original manufacture.

Usually I would offer to combine ship but this puzzle is huge and I’ve packaged it up specially to ship on it’s own. I guess a very small puzzle could fit in one corner of the box but that is all.
Import duties/tariffs are not included in the final price.
The import duty or tariff rate may be different for every country so please check the rate that applies to your own country. It is usual practice that import duties or tariffs are paid by the buyer at the point of import or delivery in your own country.
