Description

Offered is an authentic piece of puzzle history: "Knot Likely," an exchange puzzle from the 23rd International Puzzle Party (IPP 23) held in Chicago. This puzzle was designed by Jim Gooch and expertly crafted by Steve Strickland under his renowned Puzzlecraft brand.

Technical Specifications:

  • Designer: Jim Gooch
  • Maker: Steve Strickland - Puzzlecraft
  • Exchanger: Mike Suchsland
  • Classification: INT-CART (Interlocking Cartesian)
  • Type: Interlocking Solid
  • Materials: High-contrast Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry) and Maple.

The Challenge:

The objective is simple to state but difficult to achieve: take it apart and put it back together. As an "Interlocking Solid" (INT-CART), the movements are restricted to the X, Y, and Z axes, requiring precise sequencing and logic. Strickland’s Puzzlecraft builds are legendary in the community for their tight tolerances and smooth action, making this as much a work of art as it is a challenge.

Condition & Provenance:

  • Excellent condition with vibrant wood grains.
  • Includes the original white box with the official IPP 23 Chicago 2003 label.
  • Provenance is fully documented in the IPP 23 official compendium.
  • Directly rescued from Bill Darrah's personal collection.

Shipping determined at close of auction.
