Description
This Karakuri box was made by Osamu Kasho using walnut, chanchin (orange), oak, and magnolia (green). The little Kobito philosopher figurine on top was made by guest artist Kobo Alp using rare and pricey rosewood for the cloak and hat and maple for the face. This box is brand new. I bought two of them intending to give this one to my nephew as a gift but later decided the moves to take it apart and put it back together might be too complex for him and the Kobito (meaning “little person”) might be too fragile for a kid. To solve this box you have to disassemble the five sections. Then you will find two small secret compartments of about equal size. The compartments are large enough to put a folded up bill/note inside or perhaps a ring or gem(s). Then you have to reassemble it. It’s a cool, cute, colorful box that is fun to manipulate.
The photo on the right is of my box. The photo on the left is of the one I'm selling which hasn't even been out of the box in which it came.
