This is an iconic Bill Cutler 18 piece burr beautifully crafted by Jerry McFarland using Maple, Walnut and Cherry.

Here’s Bill’s description:

“This is one of my earliest difficult-to-take apart designs. I had not been successful making a difficult 18-piece burr using the standard shape, because with the pieces all packed together tightly, there was not much room to create tricky moves. I discovered, however, that by separating the pieces slightly, I could create more notches without splitting the pieces in two, and this made for more flexibility.”
