A puzzle from 1898.  Copy of "Le Fermier Avisé" from "The book of ingenious & diabolical puzzles", Jerry Slocum and Jack Botermans 

Place the 9 cardboard pieces in a square of 3 x 3 pieces.
Where 2 numbers
lie against each other, the sum must always be the same. 
So: In each square cage the same number of chicks.

    Place the pieces in the frame, Place the black piece with the holes on it. You should now see the 0 and 9. (start position). There are several ways to do this, There is only 1 good  to slide to the numbers 1 to 4. Then slide to the numbers 5 to 8, Then slide the 1 at the top left and the 8 at the bottom right, Place the black piece on it so that you only see the 1 and 8. (end position) .The numbers are engraved in the piecesMaterial acrylic.
