The Mecanigma by NKD is a 15 moves to open, 10 of which are sequential and 5 of which are using 5 dials to set a 5-part combination, which must be devised/intuited by the solver.
NKD rates the difficulty as 3/5.
The Mecanigma is made out of 541 pieces. This is made up of approximately 350 wooden parts, 100 3D printed plastic parts, and 90 metal parts.
As the assembler of this puzzle it took me 50+hrs. The wood is hand-stained poplar plywood. It is all manually assembled, using glue and some screws. The wooden surfaces were finished with 3 coats of glossy polyurethane varnish (over a week to complete this step!) prior to final wood assembly, and before adding the plastic and metal.
Original assembly instruction booklet Included with resolution.
This puzzle gets noticed the most when people see it in the cabinet amongst the other puzzles. I’m going to miss it very much!!
Sorry for side ways pic. Would not post normal. Other pic shows size of The Mec along side WMH and SDBBM.
