Description
Frederic Boucher has been crafting Minima after Minima design where he works to design a packing puzzle within a 2 by 2 by 3 box where either the solver has to fit in a set of pieces, or figure out how to take them out. He used to number them, but after reaching #14 which developed into a full blown sequential discovery puzzle (Jammed Gem), they've spiraled out into other names and really stretching the original packing concept of a Minima. At this point, the total number of Minima designs is anywhere from 30 to 40 of them and I wouldn't be surprised to be mistaken and is actually a much higher number than that.

Minima Smiley is one such deviation from the original packing design where instead of trying to fit pieces into the box, the solver has to take out the pieces and free the ball from within the box. It's also made by Tye from Nothing Yet Designs who does an excellent job of bringing Frederic's designs to life in acrylic and wood. I strongly believe if it wasn't for Tye, most of Frederic's designs would never exist in more than a handful of personal copies made by himself for himself. I appreciate Tye's efforts so I can enjoy this lovely pocket-sized puzzle that made me smile!

Does anyone remembers Oskar's Matchboxes? The solver had 5 matchboxes with a square shell and a box attached to it at different spots from piece to piece, and then they had to be put them together so all 5 boxes would fit inside another matchbox. It was a very interesting puzzle with 4 cavities to store small items inside and people had fun finding multiple ways to put the boxes together. It was fairly popular and not the only one of it's type! Matchbox Play Six by Olexandre Kapkan upped the cou...

Rattler's Tail by Jesse Born
Selling Rattler's Tail to raise funds for a new puzzle!Rattler's Tail is a tricky puzzle that left me stumped after each step, but I had a lot of fun solving it! It does a good job of living up to it's theme of the Wild West considering it's based around the rattler snake which is iconic to the setting. In either case, this is a puzzle in excellent shape, only been solved twice ever, and comes with the original certificate and shipping box it first came to me directly from Jesse! The starting auc...

Tenchi by Frederic Boucher
Tenchi is a fun little assembly puzzle that Cubic Dissection made from Fredric's design. It's an "anti-slide" puzzle where all of the pieces have to put into the square and positioned around the single cube notch in a way that none of the pieces can slide right back out of the square on either end. It sounds impossible, but I promise that it's very doable even if you have never tried this style of puzzling before. If it ends up being too confusing or demanding to fully solve, I have a solution Bu...

Knot-a-2x2 by Rex Perez
Knot-a-2x2 made for a wild flashback to my younger years playing with a Rubik's Cube. I'll be honest here, I struggled just as badly here as I did back then with the Rubik's Cube hahaha.I had fun with Rex's prior designs when he was mostly selling coin releases and burrs, so when I heard that he was designing an SD for seemingly the first time, I knew I had to get it. And hearing that it's based on the design of a Rubik's Cube, that just sealed the deal. The goal is to scramble up the cube so you...
