Mukyu (Dream Sphere) by Noboru Honma  Karakuri Box 

This Mukyu (Dream Sphere) was created by Noboru Honma who is Legendary craftsman certified as a Japanese traditional craftsman of Hakone Yosegi Zaiku.

This superb Mukyu karakuri box made using “Muku-Zukuri” techniquue in the shape of a perfectly round spherical ball, which is very rare his masterpiece.Mr. Honma is now 94 years old.This is uncertain whether it will ever be produced again.

An amazingly beautiful shape as piece of art. And this work futures wonderfully high elaborate production and beautiful wood grain, combination of color and refined marquetry patterns.

Also, Karakuri box mechanism works perfectly.

Hakone-Yosegi-Zaiku is based on a pattern made by combining pieces of wood with various colors and textures. This is called "Taneita".

Muku-Zukuri: A method in which "Taneita" itself is hollowed out with a potter's wheel for processing. 

Crafting the marquetry (yosegi) sphere requires an extremely high level of technique.
