Pachinko by Wil Strijbos

William Strijbos’s Pachinko Box is one of the most sought-after Sequential Discovery puzzles among collectors.

The hefty puzzle comes in full aluminium box, shiny and mesmerizing, and with a solve that is so uniquely different and interesting that will stand the test of time. One of my favourite puzzles of all time!

William describes having been fascinated by the game and wanting to incorporate the idea of launching a metal ball into one of his puzzle box designs.  He has succeeded in creating an incredible puzzle which really does hit the jackpot.  The Pachinko box is a shiny solid metal box with a distinctive feature in the form of a plunger sticking out of the end.  There’s a little window on the side that allows a view of the plunger trapping a shiny marble against an internal wall in the box. On the top of the box there’s another window through which a Russian 2 Ruble coin is visible… there are one or two tiny holes around the box, a T-shaped slot on one side and a single round hole in the bottom of the box – which looks about marble-sized. Now the goal is to get both coins out….

This puzzle is in great condition other than some minor scuffs due to play and nature of the aluminium. I would not have let go of it if not to focus on other commitments in life and also moving to a new house. Hope that it gets to a collector who will appreciate it!
