Description

This classic design was one of my earliest puzzle builds in the early 2000’s that I made for Bill Cutler.

It features 18 pieces with four solutions, however finding one will definitely keep you busy for some time!

I’ve always wanted to revisit it but in a smaller scale, I used a 3/16” unit size with the overall size being approximately 6” x 4”.

The woods used were salvaged from an old upright piano from the 1920’s that I layed out the keys in a wall hanging (see last photo).

Slipfeathers in the tray are Purpleheart.

Ships assembled with printed solutions sheet.

As always everything is given my ‘Triple Buffing’ process making for smooth buttery finish.

Shipping cost to US is $20 with tracking, everywhere else is the same price without tracking.

Christmas 2001 - Stewart Coffin #182 by John Devost
I originally made a small amount of this wonderful design in 2006 (sold at CubicDissection) and thought I might make a few more copies. This particular copy is crafted from Maple from an antique upright piano with Padauk slipfeathers.Stewart makes note of this particular version:“The Original Christmas has two design flaws - a piece duplicated and a symmetrical piece.  Both flaws have been corrected in this 2018 version.  Both versions have only one solution.”Entire puzzle has been ‘tri...

11 ‘F’ Pentominominoes by John Devost
I spotted this design on Ishino’s site early this year and decided to make a copy.  The designer is unknown and features one solution in the 4x4x4 box that I made for it.  It also features only one solution in a flat 8x8 configuration. Both solutions contain voids making this a very tricky solve and I also made extra cubes that can be used in the solve but not really sure if that helps or hinders your progress? (See last photo)Maple was used from an antique upright piano with Padauk Slipfea...

Singmaster Packing - David Singmaster (1971) by John Devost
This design by Professor Singmaster (sadly passed away in 2023) was my very first puzzle offering at CubicDissection back in 2005, it’s 25 pieces that can be packed in the box 22 ways.I was going through my ‘Salvaged Piano Wood’ (see last photo of my keyboard wall hanging, that I made from our upright piano that was produced in the ‘roaring ‘20’s!), so I figured I’d make more of this classic puzzle with this antique lumber. As always everything gets my ‘triple buffing finish’ th...
