Karukuri craftsman Osamu Kasho is known for creating clever, whimsical animal-themed puzzle boxes. This early work of his is particularly elegant, representing a simple stylized pelican’s head, with a solution in keeping with the puzzle’s theme involving a key clever and surprising step. This hard-to-find puzzle has rarely been available by auction.
This work was designed as a Christmas present for 2016.
I wanted to make a box in the shape of a pelican’s head. Of course, the head is the lid. The yellow and white timbers matched beautifully well together.
