Karukuri craftsman Osamu Kasho is known for creating clever, whimsical animal-themed puzzle boxes.  This early work of his is particularly elegant, representing a simple stylized pelican’s head, with a solution in keeping with the puzzle’s theme involving a key clever and surprising step.  This hard-to-find puzzle has rarely been available by auction.

Karakuri product description:

This work was designed as a Christmas present for 2016.
I wanted to make a box in the shape of a pelican’s head. Of course, the head is the lid. The yellow and white timbers matched beautifully well together.

Hydrant (2019) - Stephan Baumegger
In 2018 famed Austrian puzzle designer and craftsman Stephan Baumegger created a gorgeous sequential discovery puzzle in the form of a fire hydrant.  The exotic wood exterior hides a devious puzzle comprised of 44 different parts.  The stated goal is to find the fire hose inside.  The puzzle has some very well-disguised, clever moves, and was an award recipient at the 2018 International Puzzle Party. You can learn more about the puzzle at:https://www.puzzlemad.co.uk/2019/02/i-bought-box-by-a...

Star Cluster Puzzle (2018) - Allen Rolfs
As his exchange puzzle at the 2018 International Puzzle Party acclaimed puzzle craftsman Allen Rolfs created a magnificent burr set.  Whereas others had produced traditional burr sets based on rectangular pieces, Allen set for himself the challenge of crafting a set of 22 leopardwood “star” burr pieces – pieces that require angular rather than straight cuts and assemble to form what mathematicians call the first stellation of the rhombic dodecahedron.  The pieces come in a specially made...
