Description

I’m offering this special puzzle I made for my collection last year, it’s obviously the very familiar 12 piece pentominos however the solid Canarywood box has been made with a 2x5x6 configuration.  There are many ways to pack them in the box (264 solutions) but as is usually the case none are easy to find!

Pieces are a mix of Maple and Jatoba (3/4” cubes), while the box is Canarywood with a Maple Sleeve (removable).  The outside of the box features multiple grooves with Leopardwood Inlays.  Everything has been ‘triple buffed’ to a nice sheen.

Approximate overall size is 3”x5”x5.5” - (see last photo showing the sizing hamster)

Shipping cost to be determined at close of auction.

Gouge Packing Puzzle - Gaétan Gouge by John Devost
I previously made a few of this surprisingly difficult packing puzzle by Gaétan and at the time I didn’t have any contact info for him but then a few years ago I was surprised by one of his puzzle purchases in ‘Paradise’.My plan was to make another run but life kinda’ took a turn so now I’ve managed to sort myself out and began making another run.Allard kindly blogged about the copies I made in 2014, here’s an excerpt:https://allardspuzzlingtimes.blogspot.com/2014/04/gouge-packing-p...

Tube It In - William Strijbos by John Devost
It seems hard to believe that it's been almost 20 years since I first made a small run of this clever packing puzzle design in 2006.  William has graciously allowed me to offer up another run as there were only a dozen copies made in 2006.The original metal version was William’s exchange puzzle at the IPP21 in Tokyo. This version is made using many wood varieties and includes a Stand.  The entire puzzle has been ‘triple buffed’ giving it a very nice sheen.Overall size is a little over 4...

This classic design was one of my earliest puzzle builds in the early 2000’s that I made for Bill Cutler. It features 18 pieces with four solutions, however finding one will definitely keep you busy for some time!I’ve always wanted to revisit it but in a smaller scale, I used a 3/16” unit size with the overall size being approximately 6” x 4”.The woods used were salvaged from an old upright piano from the 1920’s that I layed out the keys in a wall hanging (see last photo). Slipfeath...

This classic design was one of my earliest puzzle builds in the early 2000’s that I made for Bill Cutler. It features 18 pieces with four solutions, however finding one will definitely keep you busy for some time!I’ve always wanted to revisit it but in a much smaller scale.  This size is small enough to fit in a pocket so definitely not as tiny as Allan Boardman’s version! As always everything is given my ‘Triple Buffing’ process making for smooth buttery finish.Crafted from Canarywood...
