This incredibly creative and rare 2015 Karakuri Idea Contest Winner combines exceptional craftsmanship with a concept that’s both inventive and well-executed. The solution is clever, deliberate, and thoughtfully integrated into the design. Every step feels purposeful, with a satisfying payoff that reflects the puzzle’s overall theme. It is truly a showcase piece reflecting clean design, playful thinking, and meticulous construction. All original packaging included. There is some wear to the edges of the box in the same condition it was bought in Japan. See the last photo.
The motif is an ATM money machine (Automated teller machine). When you use an ATM to make a cash withdrawal, the drawer opens, you take out the money and a service fee is charged. When the drawer is closed, it will lock, and the fee will be removed from your account. At least one coin is always left inside. This contradiction makes the puzzle fun.
This work was produced by Karakuri Creation Group’s craftsmen, from a selected idea of “7th Karakuri Puzzle Idea Contest”.
