???? Special Provenance Note: ???? This puzzle comes directly from the personal estate and collection of the late, legendary puzzle designer and enthusiast, Bill Darrah. Up for auction is a striking interlocking geometric puzzle, The Great Stella. This piece was presented by Allan Stein at the Edward Hordern Puzzle Exchange during the 23rd International Puzzle Party (IPP23) held in Chicago in 2003. It was brilliantly designed and crafted by Ralph Jones.
The Puzzle:
As noted on the included information slip, the design of this vibrant red puzzle is based on the complex geometry of the "great stellated dodecahedron." It functions as an interlocking solid, offering a fantastic challenge to disassemble and reassemble its points.
The Presentation:
What truly sets this exchange puzzle apart is its housing. It comes in a beautiful, custom-crafted wooden slide-top box. The lid is deeply and handsomely engraved with the IPP23 Chicago logo and "Edward Hordern Puzzle Exchange." It is a superb display piece for any puzzle shelf.
Condition:
Excellent, collector-quality condition. The puzzle pieces are vibrant and well-crafted, and the wooden display box is in fantastic shape with smooth sliding action. It includes the original folded information slip detailing the puzzle's origins.
