This is a beautiful puzzle box by the very talented Karakuri Creation Group craftsman Fumio using Nato:

“This work was designed as a Christmas present for 2014.

The structure of the mechanism is simple. However, it was difficult that adjusted it and I had a trouble to made it. The principle of how to open is simple, but you need the hang to open it.  Let's enjoy it!” 　

Here’s a bio for Fumio:

“I have worked in fields such as electronics, machinery, painting, woodcraft. So, I tend to use "high-tech" mechanisms when I make Karakuri. But a lot of "high-tech" makes us tired. "Low-tech" is easygoing. So, I'll make "low-tech" Karakuri products that are interesting and enjoyable.

1947．Born in Ibaraki Prefecture

1966．Graduated from high school 

After that, engaged in electric facility maintenance, manufacture of mechanical parts, agricultural equipment repair, game machine repair, water supply and sewage construction, plant management, wood processing (wood turning lathe, lumber, wooden box), painting and interior renovation
