Description

This is a beautiful box, that seems to have no obvious way to open it. The Rabbit on the top is attached to a circular piece of wood under the lip of the hat rim, and will spin freely. Nothing else seems to move, and spinning the rabbit just makes him (or you) dizzy.

Measures approximately 5.18 x 3.54 x 3.54 inches and is made of Katsura and Walnut.
Quite an ingenious opening mechanism! Can the you solve how the Rabbit comes out of the hat?

Cutaway Dovetail Puzzle by Perry McDaniel

Designed by Robert Sandfield and Crafted by Perry McDaniel At first glance, this one resembles a slightly enlarged Sandfield Joint, except that someone has taken a bandsaw to it and cut out one of the corners – leaving the inside edges significantly rougher than the rest of the puzzle. The Pharaoh's Secret by Perry McDaniel

Perry McDaniel, a favorite craftsman and fellow Texan, uses something a bit more modern to achieve his precision, but I suspect he could do it with shadows too. He designed (along with Norman Sandfield) and created the Pharaoh’s Secret, a miniature pyramid made from walnut, mahogany and padauk woods. Those familiar with the creations of the Sandfield brothers won’t be surprised to see that this pyramid is held together by perfect dovetails, impossibly positioned at opposing sides all around....
