Sqalien (IPP31) by Dale Overy
Sqalien was designed and crafted by Dale Overy for exchange at IPP 31 in Berlin.
Dale explains the "Objective: Arrange all four pieces into the following shapes:
1: ALIEN. Create the alien illustrated on the box of the lid (see picture on the right).
2: SQUARE. Form the square in which the capital letter J can be seen (subtle solution).
3: DOG. Create the dog illustrated on the box lid (see picture on the right).
4: ONE HOLER: Using the box lid as a tray, create one empty space where none of the pieces slide about in the lid.
5: EMPTY T & L: Using the box lid as a tray, create two empty spaces in the shape of a T and L that are both visible at the same time.
6: SYMMETRICAL STRUCTURE. Create a symmetrical vertical structure (not a tower) one unit thick that balances on a single square end of one unit.
7: FOUR “T”s. Create 4 different sized solid symmetrical T’s, each using all four pieces. The arms and stem of the T must be the same width.
8: SIX HOLER. Using the box lid as a tray, create six square empty spaces. The side of the box lid can be used for the sides of the individual spaces. The box lid itself does not count as an empty space.
9: 3D T & L. Construct a three dimensional freestanding T & L that whend viewed from one direction you see a T and when viewed from another direction you see an L.
10: L & T Monogram. Create a flat monogram to show the letters L & T interlinked in two places. The arms of the L must be of equal length and the T must be symmetrical.
11: MAXI MOVER: With all the pieces in the box lid fin a start position where all the pieces slide to a new position in the maximum number of moves. Slide one piece only up to another piece or edge of the box for one move. No moves to be repeated or back to a previous position. All pieces to finish in a new position. Can you make more than 10 moves?
PENNY EXTRA: Remove the black packaging and place all the pieces, plus a flat penny, in the box (not the lid). All pieces are to be parallel or at right angles to each other. No force required."
