Description

I am Sergej Abramenkov, inventor and designer of several mechanical puzzles, including the Binary Ring and Double Disk. I am pleased to offer a unique piece of engineering history from my personal design archive.

This auction is for the Octogonzo — the Sole Factory Prototype of this configuration. This specific specimen is the only remaining factory-tooled record of this invention.

HISTORICAL NOTE & INDEPENDENT INVENTION:
This design represents a rare case of independent simultaneous invention. While the Tony Fisher independently conceived a similar concept, the priority of this 2010 patent and this specific factory prototype is well-documented.
As early as 2012, this was discussed on the Twisty Puzzles Forum, where I publicly shared my respect for Tony’s work and our independent discovery of the same mechanical solution.

This "dual pedigree" and historical transparency add significant collectable value to this 1-of-1 specimen.

WHY THIS IS A MUST-HAVE FOR COLLECTORS:

  • Status: The Sole 1-of-1 Specimen. This is an unreleased factory-tooled prototype produced during the development phase with an international licensing partner (USA). It represents the final stage of engineering before the decision was made not to proceed with mass production.

  • Design & Engineering: A sophisticated Sequential Movement mechanism featuring four interconnected 3x3 rotational units in a circular formation.

  • Authenticity & History: This item comes directly from the inventor. It is the physical embodiment of the engineering originally protected under US Provisional Patent 2010/0230898. While the patent term has concluded, this prototype remains a unique historical record of the original invention. Full schematics: www.patentsencyclopedia.com/app/20100230898

  • Build Quality: Unlike handmade modifications, this is a professionally factory-tooled specimen with high-grade mechanics and durable industrial polymer.

  • OFFICIAL VIDEO DEMONSTRATION:  https://youtu.be/-VKjjT_PV3c

ARTISTIC & INVESTMENT VALUE:

  • Kinetic Sculpture: Beyond its function as a puzzle, the Octogonzo is a mesmerizing kinetic object. Its complex interlocking movement represents a rare study in geometric symmetry.

  • Investment Grade: This is a "Zero-Unit" specimen. For collectors of rare patent models and designer toys, owning the Sole Factory Prototype is a high-value investment in industrial design history.

CONDITION NOTE:
As an original factory prototype from 2010, the item features an authentic aged patina. Please note minor surface point-wear in the original factory-applied painted finish, which is characteristic of a genuine development specimen of this era. Detailed photos are provided to show the current state of the finish.
