Description

⟬ Metal Fortnight ⟭———07. Harry Nelson - Gravity Well

sold through Bits & Pieces back in the late 90's.

Harry Nelson (1932-2024) was a math and supercomputer guy who worked at Livermore Lab in California (look up 'Cray Blitz' when you have a moment, there's probably a Wikipedia page), and a longstanding IPP member at least as early as 2000, and i wouldn't be surprised if he was a member as far back as the early Eighties or late Seventies*.

the fit of puzzle to base is loose but stable: it won't fall over, but it may take a nudge or two to get it to stand up straight and look presentable if you have company coming.

- - --

* since an aerospace guy started the club, it would make sense if the supercomputer guy just a few miles up the California coast was an early member.

Pyrigan (John Partridge) - Model #360 (2017)
⟬ Metal Fortnight ⟭———12. Pyrigan (John Partridge) - Model #360 (2017) i believe this puzzle may be related to the space probe in the movie Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home.  but the goal is to free the turquoise marble, not to evaporate the oceans to find the whales.  there are small pieces inside, so open it over a towel or tray.  no, that's not a spoiler. also this Model #360 is #36 of 100, which i think is a neat combination of numbers. ...

Andriy Bruns - Metal Barrel
⟬ Metal Fortnight ⟭———03. Andriy Bruns - Metal Barrel Andriy gives this a 'level 10', which i'm assuming is the top of his scale. technically this is a coin release puzzle: it contains a Skynet coin from the year 2065.  i didn't ask how he got it.  i'm not sure i want to know. ♫:  ▪ everything i have is in the photos. ▪ buyer pays shipping, calculated after the auction. ▪ shipment is by USPS Priority Mail, insured for...
