⟬ Metal Fortnight ⟭———07. Harry Nelson - Gravity Well
sold through Bits & Pieces back in the late 90's.
Harry Nelson (1932-2024) was a math and supercomputer guy who worked at Livermore Lab in California (look up 'Cray Blitz' when you have a moment, there's probably a Wikipedia page), and a longstanding IPP member at least as early as 2000, and i wouldn't be surprised if he was a member as far back as the early Eighties or late Seventies*.
the fit of puzzle to base is loose but stable: it won't fall over, but it may take a nudge or two to get it to stand up straight and look presentable if you have company coming.

* since an aerospace guy started the club, it would make sense if the supercomputer guy just a few miles up the California coast was an early member.
