Description

This is one of the original Coming of Age puzzles that Brian developed in 1997.  It was originally display stock and has been played with a lot.

In 1997 Brian began his journey to design a high level multiple move burr.  He started with W. van der Poel’s level 3 burr and redesigned some pieces to create this  level 5 burr. Eventually he would go on to design Coming of Age MkII with 19 moves to remove the first piece when assembled.

The puzzle we are selling is an original Coming of Age, pre-dating CoA MkII.  The puzzles were originally sold disassembled but this one was only put together because it was on display.

Goal:  Disassemble and reassemble the level 5, 18 piece burr.
Size:  120mm x 120mm x 120mm
Materials:  This is a Mr Puzzle standard range puzzle made from stained Radiata pine and finished with 2 coats of polyurethane.
Condition: This particular puzzle was display stock when we sold puzzles in the markets; pre-2002.  Well handled! Polished by people playing with it. But no real damage to the puzzle. Maybe a little sticker residue from the original price tag.

There is no packaging or original card or solution with the puzzle but I will reprint a copy of the solution to send with it.

General Information:

This is Brian Young from Mr Puzzle in Australia selling some old doubles I found in my puzzleroom.

Prices are in Australian Dollars (not US Dollars). We much prefer payment via Wise or other bank transfer. PayPal is also possible.
After the auction please message me first to let me know if you would like standard or express postage. Rates below. Do not pay until I send you the invoice for the full amount.

Cost to ship this puzzle Express:  Australia AU$20 - NZ AU$45 - US/Canada/Asia AU$65 - UK/EU/Scandinavia AU$70
Other countries please request a quote.

If you buy more than one item I will be happy to combine ship and quote postage based on exact weight. Usually unless a very heavy puzzle is involved it won’t be much different to the single item.

Import duties/tariffs are not included in the final price.  The import duty or tariff rate may be different for every country so please check the rate that applies to your own country.  It is usual practice that import duties or tariffs are paid by the buyer at the point of import or delivery in your own country. USA is the exception. The USA government has mandated that the tariff be paid to them from Australia before we can send the parcel. The tariff percentage for puzzles made in Australia is currently set at 12.5% + Customs clearance fee.

Yukari’s Lost Cube Puzzle – Juno design from IPP41
The puzzle was designed by Juno back in 2019.We thought it was sold out but Brian found more lost lost cubes unpainted in his workshop so Brian finished them off and  we’ve listed them here at the original price for sale.  This is the last of them…. we think! The puzzles were produced to go to an IPP but then Covid hit. Brian promptly forgot all about them.  He only discovered them in the shed under a dust sheet in early 2024; just in time to sign up for the IPP Exchange in Houston. It was ...

L Burr Juno design made by Josef Pelikan
This is an original puzzle made at Pelikan workshop when Josef was there making puzzles.  It has no packaging or solution sheet. One of Juno’s early burr designs and he still considers it one of his best.  Completely designed in his head back in 1991, it took about one full week to design this L burr. He was concentrating so much on the puzzle in that week he says he even dreamed about it. Goal: Take the six pieces apart and reassemble.  It’s only 4 moves to remove the first piece, but ...
