“Safe is an amazing creation made of dark and light oak. It also contains metal components and magnets. It must contain something valuable, which is why it is quite large and heavy. It measures 11 x 11 x 15.3 cm (4.3 x 4.3 x 6″) and weighs 985 g (2 lb 3 oz), so it’s very enjoyable to play with.”
The story goes that this safe belonged to George Thomas, a wealthy factory owner, and many robbers tried to get into it to steal the huge treasure that is inside. Your task is to get into it and get the catch for yourself. There is no need to shake, rotate or bang it.
On the front there is a door held by an ornate hinge, and on the front there is a dial for combination. The dial clicks when you turn it to get to the combination. Other than that, nothing else seems to be moving. The hinge is not a false hinge and is not disassembled. There are also interesting brass pins on the side of the puzzle. I thought that the feet could be useful, but they don’t come off and reveal an alternative locking mechanism – I really tried!
Right away with exploring what you have and don’t get, you need to think about alternative approaches. I made my first moment Aha! I experienced it after about 15 minutes – from the outside, there was no indication that what I tried could work, but I couldn’t think of what else I could do. I was in the vault and found my first small prize – a small coin. Was it a hint of a huge treasure that is still inside? Obviously, there is a lot to do. Maybe another coin further in the safe?
At this point, I stopped for a moment. I was tempted to shake it and spin it, but I was a good boy and decided to use my little brain to do it. The other few mechanisms were beautifully crafted and were a pleasure to discover. After an hour or two, I had my treasure!
This is a beautiful creation designed by Jakub and breathed life into the Pelikan team. You won’t be disappointed with this.
