⟬ Axis-&-Allies Fortnight ⟭——19. Axis 7x7x7 (2016, maker unknown)
original designer: Pham Viet Hung (2015)
base puzzle: unknown
construction material: plastic sheet
build quality: excellent
turning quality: good, but see note below
note: the puzzle shown in the Twistypuzzles museum is the one i'm selling. i thought that i had bought this from Pham (aka 'Hungab'), but there is no name in my records and the museum entry specifically says this was not made by him.
function note:
as skilled as the construction was on this, turning can a bit difficult. this could be improved with a lubricant (which i've never applied), but it still suffers from the same alignment issues as any combinatorial puzzle with a sufficiently large number of pieces. regardless, it is solvable, and i've solved it once; but the process of repeatedly verifying slice alignments in any sequence of moves was tedious enough that i've never solved it again. i would say that this puzzle is primarily for display and/or to complete an Axis Cube collection (which is why i bought it).
