This puzzle is Tom Lensch's IPP 17 exchange puzzle. Perhaps, it is one of the first to use the concept of 'twisting' the side of the cube to unlock it.

The faces of the cube are attached to the end of pieces of a six-piece burr. Made from mahogany.
