Description

I only ever made two of these puzzles for the IPP Design Competition (San Francisco) in 2009.  It’s a fun puzzle that can be very confusing to assemble from pieces even if you see the assembled shape.

Several years ago Scott Peterson (at my insistence) made a very nice run of them and later Tom Lensch (at John Rausch’s insistence) made a run, with some featuring Holly, Ebony and Rosewood!

I recently was able to acquire some 1/2” size stock and decided to make a few.  This can be considered my first puzzle project in over seven years and over 12 years since I first made any ‘Barb’s Cube’ puzzles!

I suppose you could call these mini or pocket size, although they are not micro like Allan Boardman puzzles.  I used a variety of woods in many different patterns, my favourite are the ‘Checkered Cube’ version but the design looks really nice in any combination.

I lacquered and hand buffed them with a coat of ‘Conservators Wax’ to make them pop.  This Puzzle was named after my loving wife Barb.

Woods used in this copy are:

 Zebrawood/Walnut/Cedar/Purpleheart/Cherry

Puzzle ships disassembled with information sheet.

Brick Wall - Lucie Pauwels by Pelikan
This is an awesome design by Lucie and it’s expertly crafted by Pelikan using Bubinga for the ‘Bricks’ with Maple used for the ‘Grout’.  Placing the 11 pieces within the frame is rather tricky.I made a Box and Lid from Black Limba to house this puzzle.  I also added a removable sleeve from Tigerwood.  Slipfeathers are Wenge.Shipping cost to be determined at close of auction.
