Description

When I first received Bart Buie’s version of this design it struck me how it uses similar bar pieces that are prominent in Barb’s Cube.  I thought I’d make one alongside the run of Barb’s Cube to see how it would look.  It definitely makes it look different using cube pieces in varying lengths and so I won’t be making any similar.

To read more about this design please see my Blog for a review of Bart Buie’s wonderful version:

This copy can be considered a prototype of sorts for this design.

I lacquered, and buffed it to a nice sheen.

I’m including a Specially made Laminated 3-Piece Stand to display the puzzle.  (I was inspired by Juno’s ‘Plumply’ puzzle!)

Walnut and Padauk was used for both the puzzle & Stand

Shipping cost to be determined at close of auction.

This classic design was one of my earliest puzzle builds in the early 2000’s that I made for Bill Cutler. It features 18 pieces with four solutions, however finding one will definitely keep you busy for some time!I’ve always wanted to revisit it but in a much smaller scale.  This size is small enough to fit in a pocket so definitely not as tiny as Allan Boardman’s version! As always everything is given my ‘Triple Buffing’ process making for smooth buttery finish.Crafted from Canarywood...

Tube It In - William Strijbos by John Devost
It seems hard to believe that it's been almost 20 years since I first made a small run of this clever packing puzzle design in 2006.  William has graciously allowed me to offer up another run as there were only a dozen copies made in 2006.The original metal version was William’s exchange puzzle at the IPP21 in Tokyo. This version is made using many wood varieties and includes a Stand.  The entire puzzle has been ‘triple buffed’ giving it a very nice sheen.Overall size is a little over 4...

Sphinks Cargo Car - Brian Young by Henry Strout
This cool packing puzzle was designed by Brian and is a continuation of Henry’s ‘Train themed’ puzzles.  It was Henry’s gift at the IPP34 Exchange at London, England. There are 6 pieces that need to be packed into the box car, that has one lone block permanently attached.Entire puzzle and pieces were triple buffed to a nice lustre. Please note:I modified the train box portion so it is now glued to the train car (with Olivewood edging) and features a removable lid (inset made from Padauk)...
