Nun Kiaba Yogura is a lovely specimen of
the puzzles that proves Kim has a magic touch with puzzles. The woods
are gorgeous, the pieces slide smoothly, and the cube feels rock solid
in my hands.
It's made of goncalo alves,
ziricote, ebony, maple, purpleheart, and tulipwood, with brass rods and 2
prizes. Unlike most other KCubes, this is actually a maze instead of
the expected n-ary produced by Kim. It's also a one off copy with no
other version with the same solution path/sequence of moves. There are
only 14 moves to open it, so it's not a long meditative solve, but it's
not trivial to solve and reset either.
The puzzle can be found on Kim's website here for more details and pictures: https://kcubedesigns.com/gallery1-11.html
Kim
had the misfortune to have his shop and home burn down last year
sometime March, 2022. And before the fire, he was on a break from making
more puzzles. I have no idea if or when he plans to return, but it's
been a long break (for understandable reasons). That's all I know about
his current status.
