COMMENTS: | This clever puzzle shows major design chops. Using four identical, simple pieces and a cage, Yamamoto created a level 9.2.5 beauty with only one solution. Definitely one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" situations; I am nevertheless priveleged to make it despite not being clever enough to think of it. Fun to solve, a nice half hour challenge for the serious puzzler. Maybe 5 minutes if your name is Oskar. > I could have glued the cage together from a bunch of sticks, but where's the fun in that? Instead the top and bottom is made from mitered component pieces, replete with clever notching to facilitate the inset cross braces. A fine cage if I do say so myself. > Each piece signed and dated; ~30 copies made for sale. |
