Description

For those familiar with Kawashima’s Bars Box puzzles, Asymmetric Cube -5- is more than just another in the series.  Yes, it has the intricate multi-step solution and precision wood craftsmanship that you expect from a Bars Box puzzle, but what makes this one stand out from the rest is alluded to in the product description: “This work starts with the design of the surface but there are mechanisms that betray your expectations.”  I won’t say more lest it be too spoilery.  The puzzle is also clever in its use of the number 5 – it’s not only the fifth in the Bars Box series, but many of the faces are crafted to look like the digit 5, and the puzzle is made from 5 different woods. All original packaging included.

Karakuri product description:

This work was designed for an exhibition with the theme "GO".

The Japanese word “go” has several meanings and I selected “5” among them.

The design of the surface incorporates "5", using "5" types of wood, and developed as the "fifth" of the bar box series.

Based on the previously created "Bars box" to "Bars Box IV"(KW-36~KW-39) I have also introduced new mechanisms.

This work starts with the design of the surface but there are mechanisms that betray your expectations.

Size: 70×70×70mm

Material: Magnolia, Purpleheart, Padauk, Keyaki (Zelkova), Maple
