Description

Designed by Wayne Daniel in 2005 this puzzle includes all five of the Platonic Solids.

This is the MIToys made version sanctioned by Wayne Daniels.

When disassembled all pieces are either a Platonic Solid or can be combined with other pieces for form a Platonic Solid. When assembled all pieces fit inside and only the Icosahedron on the outside is visible.

Pieces: A tiny Octahedron; a Tetrahedron; a Hexahedron; a Dodecahedron and finally the Icosahedron on the outside. In all 5 puzzles in 1. A total of 37 pieces.

The New York Times quoted Jerry Slocum as saying "This is the first puzzle with all the Platonic solids in a concentric, integrated and solid form, with no voids between them. It's an amazing achievement."

Wayne was originally producing this puzzle himself but could not keep up production Wayne decided to licence the product and have it commercially manufactured by MiToys in China. Although the puzzles are not made by Wayne Daniel himself the quality is very good for the price.

Size: Diameter of Icosahedron 90mm

The puzzles are made of mainly bamboo which makes it very stable.

This puzzle is unopened inside its original box although the outer box has been opened. I think originally to just to check that the CD is inside. And it is.  The first photograph is of puzzle that is being sold as is packaged.  The next of of the puzzle still packaged on the card inside with the CD.   I have not unpackaged the actual puzzle to photograph.

Information on back of box in three languages - English, French & German Included with the puzzle is a comprehensive printed solution. The puzzle is packaged with a DVD showing an animated solution. The DVD also has a short documentary about the history of Platonic Solids and about the designer Wayne Daniel.

Lattice 18 piece burr designed by Bill Cutler
This is one of Bill’s first difficult-to-take apart designs. Designed in 1975. Made by Jerry McFarland during the 1990s.Rather than the pieces being side by side in the puzzle Bill found that by separating the pieces slightly, he could create more notches without splitting the pieces in two, and this made for more flexibility and trickier moves.Material: Maple, Walnut and Cherry.  Size: 93 x 93 x 93mmCondition: I did the first few moves and the puzzle is working very smoothly.General Informa...
