Parcel Post

designer unknown
crafted by John Devost

  • production year: 2006
  • condition: as new
  • materials: Walnut, Padauk
  • description: Parcel Post is a vintage 18-piece packing puzzle of unknown origin dating to the early 20th century: the challenge is to pack specified rectangular blocks into a tray of interior dimensions 18x28x6 units. Bill Cutler performed a computer analysis in 1979 and found exactly four solutions, underscoring why the puzzle remains notoriously difficult. John Devost’s Walnut-and-Padauk edition features fully finished, high-gloss pieces and a large splined tray signed and dated 2006.
