Description

!! Please read description carefully before bidding on this puzzle box !!

I’m offering up this ‘modified’ maze type puzzle box by Juno:

I purchased this puzzle box from a fellow puzzle collector.  When it was originally purchased from Juno (Pluredro) it was severely damaged by customs in an effort to open it for inspection.  It appeared to be struck with a hammer.  Once I received it in pieces I repaired it and modified the maze portion circumventing Juno’s original design of having to ride the edges of the maze thereby allowing the plunger pin to ride the internal mazes (both sides were altered).

Here’s Juno’s original description from Pluredro:

“This puzzle box is sized to hold a regular-sized credit card. Its size is 85.6 x 53.98 mm or 3.37 x 2.125 inches, so it can also be used as a gift box containing a gift card and so on. This puzzle can be classified as a hidden maze-type puzzle box, but as you play with it, you will be able to partially see the hidden paths and reach the goal if you persevere in your efforts.

As you begin to play, you will notice that there is more than one challenge to the puzzle. One of them is a bit more subtle: removing the red-colored slider at the top without using an external tool.

Unlike most of our puzzle products, the solution to the box is not provided. Instead, you can easily cheat, and you will be able to access the maze diagram hidden in the box. You don't have to use force to play with the puzzle, even in case you are going to cheat. No bashing or violent shaking is needed.

The top layer of the puzzle, including the knob, is made of Jarrah and sap wood of Bubinga, both of which have very distinctive textures. American Rock Maple was used for the main part of the box frame and Golden Sassafras for the maze area, which has good workability with a CNC router.”

Size: 112 mm x 82 mm x 57 mm

Number of pieces: Secret

Material: Bubinga (Sap wood), Jarrah, American Rock Maple, Golden Sassafras and Plywood (Oak + Poplar core)

Designer: Junichi Yananose (Juno)

Origin: Made in Australia

Gouge Packing Puzzle - Gaétan Gouge by John Devost
I previously made a few of this surprisingly difficult packing puzzle by Gaétan and at the time I didn’t have any contact info for him but then a few years ago I was surprised by one of his puzzle purchases in ‘Paradise’.My plan was to make another run but life kinda’ took a turn so now I’ve managed to sort myself out and began making another run.Allard kindly blogged about the copies I made in 2014, here’s an excerpt:https://allardspuzzlingtimes.blogspot.com/2014/04/gouge-packing-p...

Four-Piece Serially Interlocking Cube & Modified 3-Piece version - Stewart Coffin Design #93 by John Devost
I’ve made so many of this design that I can’t even remember how many, it’s one of my favourites of Stewart’s designs.  I often would make them when making a fresh batch of wood sticks for cube designs and when I last did that I mistakenly glued up a version that ended up being only 3 pieces instead of 4.  I’m offering it up here as well as a correct 4 piece version both in Maple.Second photo shows the pieces of the 4 piece version. Both copies have been triple buffed as always and c...

Singmaster Packing - David Singmaster (1971) by John Devost
This design by Professor Singmaster (sadly passed away in 2023) was my very first puzzle offering at CubicDissection back in 2005, it’s 25 pieces that can be packed in the box 22 ways.I was going through my ‘Salvaged Piano Wood’ (see last photo of my keyboard wall hanging, that I made from our upright piano that was produced in the ‘roaring ‘20’s!), so I figured I’d make more of this classic puzzle with this antique lumber. As always everything gets my ‘triple buffing finish’ th...
