La Mini Cariatide by Miguel Berrocal. I think the famous sculptures by Miguel Berrocal need no further introduction.
The Cariatide has no. 3438 and is in great condition. The little statue comes with the companion book (copyright 1971), which contains a short history and also the assembly instructions in pictures together with another brochure of Multicetera. Both are in really good condition for their age.
The following components are also part of this auction:
They start with the original thin paper which was wrapped around the whole thing / box. The original big cardboard box (which does not look too bad for her 50 years of ago imo) by Multicetera who officially sold many of Berrocal's Minis from the seventies onwards.
In the cardboard box is a "tanklike" big styrofoam box to protect and preserve everything. Even that one is formed like a sculpture.
When the styrofoam box is opened, on top sits a black tray made of a kind of hard plastic in which the Cariatide was originally placed when shipped. The tray contains a few holes where the statue can be placed upright when her round base is not "put on".
Below the black tray sits a red tray made of softer material, which is intended to hold all the single pieces of the Cariatide when she is completely disassembled. This red tray seems to sit quite firmly in the bottom of the styrofoam box.
All accompanying components are also in great condition. It is really hard to find the Berrocal Minis today in such a good condition with all components still present.
It was stored in a clima controlled environment in a smoke- and pet free home.
