Description
Daedalus is one of these rare puzzles that you just know will be an instant classic hit. Described simply, it's a TIC with teeth! And yet that fails to accurately describe it since it's not similar to other Turning Interlocking Cube in the feel of solving this puzzle.

When first given this puzzle, the goal is to take it apart and then to put it back together as a cube. But this is no simple task. There are internal grooves and pins traveling these grooves to form a strange maze that you can at times see and at time wander blindly. It's not blind at all, but one has to put together scattered glimpses together into a map of the maze and then deduce how to travel through this 3d maze until escaping. And while a solver could escape with a little luck, it forces the solver to truly master the puzzle to be able to reset it properly. In fact, it's possible to reset this puzzle with one piece put back in the wrong orientation which becomes obvious to others with a good eye for wood grains. It's not a coincidence that all of the cubes of the puzzle follows the grain of the wood. It's a helpful guide for how to restore this puzzle!

I love this puzzle and I honestly don't want to sell it, but the truth is that I have a copy of this puzzle in a gorgeous marble-like resin and feel as if it's a bit much to keep duplicates when funds for puzzling are somewhat limited. This is a CD copy of Daedalus which was made with amazing tolerances. It's from their second run of Daedalus, and speaking as someone who has tried copies from both of their runs, their second run has a tighter tolerance and less looseness in the pieces. This is made from Chechen which is a fairly dense and hefty wood. So this puzzle has a pleasing feel of weight to it. Furthermore, people have noticed that an internal pin often scratches up and dents some of the insides of wooden Daedaluses, but I was already fairly experienced at playing with Daedalus before getting this copy and I could be careful enough to not force any movements. So this is a nearly pristine copy that I have preserved.

Frederic Boucher has a long history of coming up with wild puzzles, but he doesn't like to craft more than a handful of copies before moving on to the next design. Which is why I'm so appreciative of Pelikan for stepping in to make more copies of LOL for everyone to try!LOL is a packing puzzle where the solver needs to fit all of the pieces into a 4x5 space with only a 1x2 opening to fit the pieces inside. It's obvious that rotations will be required since there are pieces that wouldn't otherwis...

Knot-a-2x2 by Rex Perez
Knot-a-2x2 made for a wild flashback to my younger years playing with a Rubik's Cube. I'll be honest here, I struggled just as badly here as I did back then with the Rubik's Cube hahaha.I had fun with Rex's prior designs when he was mostly selling coin releases and burrs, so when I heard that he was designing an SD for seemingly the first time, I knew I had to get it. And hearing that it's based on the design of a Rubik's Cube, that just sealed the deal. The goal is to scramble up the cube so you...

Tenchi by Frederic Boucher
Tenchi is a fun little assembly puzzle that Cubic Dissection made from Fredric's design. It's an "anti-slide" puzzle where all of the pieces have to put into the square and positioned around the single cube notch in a way that none of the pieces can slide right back out of the square on either end. It sounds impossible, but I promise that it's very doable even if you have never tried this style of puzzling before. If it ends up being too confusing or demanding to fully solve, I have a solution Bu...

Dark Matter Burr by Juno
Dark Matter Burr sounds ominous with it's name and looks, but it's quite gentle in my eyes.I solved it fairly quick when I first got it, but it's really fun to take apart and reassemble with how there are only 18 moves to take out the first piece. It looks like it should be a nightmare with its unusual pieces' shapes, but once the solver gets going, it's only a modest challenge to beat. I wouldn't say this is an easy puzzle or beginner-friendly, but it's not hard either. I rate this at medium di...
