The Iron Bound Relic
As a maker, I’ve always been drawn to objects that feel like they have a past.
Pieces that look as though they’ve already lived a life before reaching the workbench.
This puzzle box grew from that idea.
The darkened wood, the iron bolts, and the rough carved impressions.
It gives it the feel of something old — something that might have been repaired, reinforced, or even sealed long ago.
I wanted it to look less like a decorative box and more like an artifact that had been discovered.
But beneath that rugged exterior is what I enjoy building most: a sequential discovery puzzle.
Each movement reveals the next step, inviting curiosity and patience from the person exploring.
It grows from the materials and ideas that come together in the moment.
This piece is no exception.
It is unique in its life,
unique in its design,
and its secrets will only reveal themselves to someone willing to take the time to understand it.
This box I tried to retrofit something challengin.
Its Really trying to keep you out!
