Description

⟬ Fisher Fortnight ⟭——[ puzzles made by Tony Fisher ]——01. 5x5x5 Egg (2015)

originally made for Dutch Cube Day 2015 with really nice stickers from Olivér's Stickers, which permanently closed during COVID and is sadly missed.

from Tony's originaldescription on the TwistyPuzzles forum:

The 5x5x5 Egg was the first time I had combined casting from moulds with hands on shaping with a Dremel. It was also the first time I used a technique I devised that I am calling "finger nailing" to avoid bubbles forming under stickers due to resin out-gassing which can continue for several years after casting. As with last year's Golden Cube 2 Extreme puzzles avoiding the problem was hugely time consuming and significantly raised the price of the puzzle. Finger nailing involves casting pieces with sunken faces which are later filled with Milliput (or any other non out-gassing suitable material). I used a genuine V-Cube 5 to make the puzzle. Movement is OK though a little stiff at times.

i can verify that after a decade, the 'finger nailing' technique works perfectly. i have never seen a single bubble on the stickers.

Tony Fisher - Sliding Pucks (USA version) (2013)
⟬ Fisher Fortnight II ⟭——[ puzzles made by Tony Fisher ]——12. Sliding Pucks (USA version) (2013) from the TP museum entry: For this puzzle Tony Fisher stacked three pucks and connected them with a sliding mechanism instead of a fully rotating one. Because of the puzzles movement the numbers or patterns on each end become lost and hidden inside the puzzle so it is unclear what goes where until they are once again brought to the correct end. Three version of thi...

⟬ Fisher Fortnight II ⟭——[ puzzles made by Tony Fisher ]——07. Octrignis (2014) from Tony's original description: This is my transformation of a mass produced Timur Evbatyrov Vulcano/ Trignis puzzle. It has eight main sides and slightly resembles my Octaminx from 1996. I could have just taken the tips off and filled in the gaps but decided to go much further. All work including stickers was done by hand. long-winded condition note — curlin...

Tony Fisher - Open Master Pyraminx (2017)
⟬ Fisher Fortnight II ⟭——[ puzzles made by Tony Fisher ]——08. Open Master Pyraminx (2017) a variation on the theme of 'open puzzles', or 'how does that not immediately fall apart?' from the TP museum entry: As Tony has done on other occasions, he has removed five pieces from this puzzle and modified it further to keep it workable. It works equivalent to a bandaged Master Pyraminx where the removed pieces are bonded. Four out of eight turns are stil...
