Tortoise Protocol

As you can see, this is a puzzle themed after a tortoise. The objective of the puzzle is to find the hidden compartment, and we've placed an item inside that clearly indicates when the puzzle has been solved. Initially, we considered names such as Turtle Recalland Akio Kame (with "kame" meaning tortoise or turtle in Japanese), but the former was ruled out due to the existence of a rock band with the same name, and the latter was avoided out of respect, as it might be presumptuous toward a great puzzle designer and maker.

Tortoise Protocol is a large and hefty puzzle. Upon examining the internal structure, you'll see that it involves an incredibly intricate level of craftsmanship. In terms of the number of moves required to solve it-including even the small movements-it has the highest count among all the SD puzzles we have released so far.

The difficulty level of the puzzle is comparable to Dial Case, Mittan, and SDCB. While it includes some unconventional moves, careful observation and creative thinking about how each part might move should eventually lead you to the goal. In certain steps, there are multiple possible tools you can use-please consider which one is suitable and try to solve it in an elegant way. There is no need to strike the puzzle or apply excessive force. When environmental factors like humidity or friction affect how smoothly the pieces respond, you can still make progress by using gravity or gently shaking the puzzle.

When playing with this puzzle, especially when handling it for the first time and you are not sure how each part moves, we recommend playing it over a cushion or a folded bath towel. Since the puzzle includes large and heavy pieces, accidentally dropping it can cause serious damage. If you have small hands like Juno, please take extra care. To prevent the puzzle from becoming stuck in a state where it cannot be taken apart or advanced (commonly referred to as bricking), we added many extra design features, including a part that may appear unnecessary at first glance. Numerous magnets have also been incorporated to enhance the tactile feedback experienced during the solving process.

PNG Rosewood is used for the shell, and Golden Sassafras, which is well suited for CNC machining, is used for the lower half of the body. Silky Oak, which has a texture similar to a tortoise's skin, was chosen for the limbs, head, and tail. In areas that are not visible from the outside once the puzzle is complete, various materials were selected according to their purpose, including our original plywood.

The puzzle is sold assembled. T

Juno - SDCB (Sequential Discovery Cube Box) (2021) - including extra piece
Puzzle designed by Junichi Yananose SDCB (Sequential Discovery Cube Box) (2021)This one is my favourite of Juno's so far. It is a fantastic puzzle and not quite as straight forward as the SDBB Master. It includes the original piece hidden in the white envelope. My understanding is that when Juno realized this piece could be used to bypass a certain step he changed the construction and shipped a better version to those who had already received theirs.from Juno's description:The puzzle may be ca...
