Description

This puzzle was designed by Peter Marineau in 1986.  And given the history of Ray’s collection, and the highly polished finish on the puzzle, we can only assume that it is an original made by Jerry McFarland and either bought at IPP from Bill Cutler or Jerry himself. But there is no distinguishing mark inside the puzzle, nor is there any paperwork with the puzzle to support that.

This is the information about the puzzle from Bill’s website:

I had just started looking at 6-piece burr designs and computer analysis of interlocking puzzles when Peter sent me this design. It requires 9 moves to remove the first piece, and there is only this one way to assemble the pieces into a 6-piece burr. Before this discovery, the highest unique level I was aware of was level-7. The design uses a back-and-forth motion to achieve the high level, hence the name.

Goal: The object of the puzzle is to disassemble then reassemble the level 9, 6 piece burr.
Size: 75 x 75 x 75mm
Materials: Walnut
Condition: The puzzle is in good condition and moves easily when solving it.  There are a couple of blemishes on the outside of the puzzle; you can see them in the photo.

General Information:

This is Brian Young from Mr Puzzle in Australia selling some doubles as a result of merging Ray Mead’s collection into my own existing collection.
