Ran-Yosegi (random marqueetry) - Unlike modern, regular, and complex geometric patterns (small marquetry), this style is characterized by the deliberate, irregular (random) arrangement of wood pieces with different colors and grain patterns from natural wood.

It requires fitting polygonal wood pieces together without gaps,

with their corners aligning perfectly, which demanding highly skilled joinery and handcraft techniques from the artisans.
