The Aslant puzzle (IPP19 exchange)

The goal of this packing puzzle is to re-arrange the 8 wooden elements in the transparent box so that the box can be closed and 12 blue dots show on one side while 12 red dots show on the other side,
Some of the pieces are a straight plank, others consist of 2 planks of different sizes glued together. 

This puzzle is more interesting than 'just try until it fits'. Only after experimenting to understand the pieces, and then concluding that it is impossible, you may be able to find a valid solution.
Thinking out of the box is allowed, placing pieces out of the box is allowed to experiment, but NOT allowed in the solution!

The solution is provided on the back of the information sheet and easily visible through the paper, therefore I greyed it out in the picture. I wrapped another piece of paper arount the information sheet to avoid spoiling the solution. On request I can leave the information/solution sheet out and send a picture later.

The box measures 86 x 86 x 11 mm.
