Measuring 175mm x 175mm x 175mm this large cube weighs 2.2kg and is finished in beech.
I designed and made this box while caretaking a yacht in Tarragona, Spain.
It was designed around the use of a one Euro coin which the solver needs to supply. (An American or Canadian quarter also works, potentially making it a cheaper solve for anyone state side). A British one pound coin is close to working. If a British person wins the auction, I’ll make a tiny adjustment if wanted.
The box has a playful nature which has put a smile on many faces since it’s first appearance in 2020.
Like all my one-off boxes, I let this one circulate. If people were enjoying it, then I encouraged the interaction. I located it six months ago in Mallorca and brought it back home. The mechanisms continue to work perfectly and I still find the solve very satisfying.
It has had a thorough sanding and been oiled with Tung oil. You will see in the photos that it is in fantastic condition. (A testament to its build quality but also to the respect that people have for an object on loan).
